Dachshund Health issues

When we researched the dachshund, we were mainly concerned that are prone to back problems because of their long skeletal structure. In trying to limit these problems with winnie, we have tried to keep her on a fairly strict diet (even though she loves those Beggin Strips) as well as helping her up onto the couch when she wants to do her nightly cuddle. My advice would be to simply monitor the dachsunds eating habits, do not let them jump onto the couch and make sure they are active outside running around and so forth.
