Web Analytics
Let's just say that if you do not look at where your visitors are coming from or what they are clicking on to get to your site, you are absolutely leaving money on the table. To be successful, you need to have at the very least, a basic and clear understanding on (1) where your visitors are coming from and (2) what terms that searched on to find your site. For example, please view the chart below for an example of monthly traffic stats.
In the next chart, you will notice a trend line of traffic based upon weekly visits. This is can be very interesting to see, espcially if you have any "offline" or paid search campaigns starting which would affect your overall traffic. When you start looking at analytic data on a regular basis, you can plan any merchandising and/or promotions around high traffic periods to get the most "bang for your buck."
In the SEM or Paid Search World, in order to get an accurate Return on Investment (ROI) or as the Web Analytic World calls it Return
on Ad Spend (ROAS)for your campaigns, you will need analytic software to tracker the performance of every keyword in every adgroup in every campaign regardless of
the search engine.
